ISO 22716
ISO 22716 is an international standard for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for cosmetics. It provides guidelines for documenting and regulating the production, control, storage, and shipping of cosmetic products. The standard guidelines will offer organizations practical methods to manage various factors that can affect product quality.
Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 of the European Union requires that cosmetic products be manufactured in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). ISO 22716 is recognized as a harmonized standard with the Regulation.
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a system based on production procedures, controls, and quality assurance that ensures the produced products meet specific quality requirements. The aim is to ensure repeatability and uniformity of products through strict supervision of the production process, from raw material supply through storage, production, packaging, labeling, to storage and distribution of finished products. This helps eliminate situations where product contamination may occur. Proper documentation helps prevent errors.
Implementing Good Manufacturing Practice standards in production facilities guarantees consumers a higher level of comfort and confidence in the quality of the manufactured product. The main principle of GMP is to eliminate accidental actions from the production process and ensure that the process complies with the requirements outlined in instructions and procedures, among others.
Adherence to GMP principles ensures:
- Prevention of mixing materials and intermediate or finished products,
- Prevention of cross-contamination, microbiological contamination, and physical contamination,
- Reproducibility of product quality considering safety and effectiveness.
ISO 14001
In the face of worsening environmental degradation and increasing environmental awareness, environmental aspects in the economy have become a subject of discussion for many organizations worldwide.
Considering the gravity of the problem, in 1996, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) issued the ISO 14001 standard for the first time (Environmental management systems – Specification with guidance for use). The current edition is from 2015.
ISO 14001 is the leading standard for environmental management systems. It confirms the consistent implementation of all elements aimed at minimizing the negative impact of an organization on the environment.
The ISO 14001 environmental management system is focused on identifying areas where there is a relationship between the company and the natural environment and determining tools to monitor these areas. It aims to reduce or eliminate the adverse impact of the organization’s activities on the natural environment.
